lyrics

White horses running high
The sea roars angry at the sky
The rudder sheared she takes the fury of the storm
The rocky shore is drawing nigh

the stricken vessel lurchers like a hind that has been brought to bay
the storm a fearsome Hunter that has blotted out the Light of Day
The Trap is sprung the teeth are Bared and granite tears the keel away
The longboat’s down and broken and the Rocky coast will have its prey

A great ship of the ocean
Laden high upon the distant main
A proud and gaudy Galleon
Full of treasure for the King of Spain
But storms care for silver Bought
With greed or slavery or pain
Off course and lost all hands are drowned
The spaniards lose the Wreckers gain
And God Have Mercy on their Souls

Oh lord eternal Pity Me
And those that fair upon the sea
The blood and danger of the Spanish main
A stranger in a far country
Oh lord eternal set me free
This is not where I want to be
I pray for life against our savage enemies on land
And the cruel uncaring sea
