about

This is probably the first decent song I ever wrote.
Back in the 1980s when I was in my early 20s I fell head over heel with love with a girl at art school. Sadly I was such a dork that nothing happened, and it remains one of lifes great might have beens ( though things certainly turned out alright in the end)..
For some reason the song never got recorded and I only found the lyrics by accident a couple of months ago whilst throwing out some old paperwork.
Here it is, it has a certain 1980’s charm.
I have also put a video up on YouTube, which is quite unlike any that I have done before.

Unfortunately I have no idea who the young lady in the video is, as she is stock footage downloaded from my video editor’s web site. I think however she fits the bill very well, though she looks nothing like the girl from my memories. There is something about her attitude though that reminds me of her.

lyrics

There once was a woman in a far away place
she could change the world with just a look on her face
every move that she made was an act of grace
she knew how to take her time

she could smile a smile such as never was used
and half of the country blew a fuse
I thought that I was bound to lose
that I could never make her mine

Chorus
but she said come on Jack turn around let yourself go
if you want my love you've got to let me know
you try hard not to let your feelings show
it may take a little time but you're going to be mine
you can take me home tonight

Her legs were long she had an easy stance
she could kill at fifty paces with a negligent glance
a cool manipulator of circumstance
She laid it on the line.

She said there ain't no need for to fuss or to fight
I've been watching you watching me all of the night
if you get a little closer you can hold me tight
you've got to get it right this time

Chorus

Don't wait for me I don't play by the rules
I've got no time for the company of Fools
don't you know that a chance like this will never come again

Chorus

The music is highly eclectic. Although the guitar is probably the main instrument, you will also hear a lot of keyboards, orchestral sounds. The Range goes from acoustic guitar, sometimes using traditional themes, sometimes using self penned material, through orchestral, German style electronics, all the way to Hard Rock. ... more
